Tennis Elbow

What Is Tennis Elbow?

Tennis elbow simply refers to pain in the elbow that’s caused by the overuse of forearm and hand muscles. Although it is a common condition among tennis players, anyone who performs repetitive hand or arm motions may experience it. The medical term for this condition is lateral epicondylitis because it affects the area of the arm known as the lateral epicondyle, which is where the tendons and muscles of the forearm attach to the elbow.

What Is the Cause of Tennis Elbow?

Tennis elbow is most often caused by repetitive motion in the arms or forearm, especially in an individual’s dominant hand. It can sometimes result from injury or trauma to the forearm or elbow as well.

Would definitely recommend it, they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, and even when I had an emergency regarding finances due to my bank they made it a point to stay open later than they had to until I had it straightened out. They make sure that you understand everything that it is done and it’s a huge confidence booster!”

What Are the Symptoms of Tennis Elbow Syndrome?

If you are suffering from tennis elbow, you may experience pain around the elbow that intensifies when squeezing or lifting objects with the same hand.

How Is Tennis Elbow Surgery Performed?

Several surgical methods are used to treat tennis elbow. One is arthroscopy, which involves inserting an arthroscope or thin tube that contains a small camera into the joint. This method allows the surgeon to make more precise incisions along the affected tendon. Open surgery involves making one or more incisions along the elbow or forearm to remove inflamed tissue or repair torn tendons. The exact method chosen will depend on the type of damage present in your tendons. Your procedure may also be performed under general anesthesia, which is designed to produce a full sleep, or regional anesthesia, which numbs a larger part of the body than local anesthesia yet does not result in unconsciousness.
