Ultherapy® in Cape Girardeau, MO
Say goodbye to invasive procedures that produce artificial results instead of natural-looking skin. Ultherapy® tightens and firms without surgery, and provide patients from Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Sikeston and surrounding areas with younger-looking, supple skin. The treatment is offered by Dr. David M. Deisher, and Dr. J. Stewart Humphrey, both certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, at Heartland Plastic and Hand Surgery.
Ultherapy®: Revolutionary Treatment for Skin
Ultherapy® is an innovative cosmetic procedure that incorporates focused ultrasound technology, delivering energy pulses into your skin’s deepest layers and stimulating collagen production. Your body’s ability to produce collagen naturally decreases with age, leading to sagging skin, wrinkles, and a loss of skin volume. Ultherapy® can take years off the appearance of your skin, without the need for invasive surgery or concerns over artificial-looking results. You’re still you, only with younger, fresher skin.
The Ultherapy® Treatment Process
An Ultherapy® treatment emits focused energy waves as non-invasive heat, directly to deep skin tissue without disturbing the surface. The ultrasound pulses cause your body to respond by increasing collagen production, which lifts and tightens the skin. The results are gradual and progress over time, usually a two- to three-month period. Improvements are long-lasting, so you’ll see refreshed skin tissue up to six months after the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions about Ultherapy®
Is Ultherapy® painful?
While comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, most experience mild to moderate discomfort. If and when any discomfort does occur, it happens while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This sensation is temporary and is a positive sign that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Ibuprofen can be taken 1 hr before the procedure, but we do not recommend taking it with Percocet.
What can I expect for recovery after Ultherapy®?
Some benefits will be immediately visible, but the skin will continue to tighten and firm up for two to three months. Because the treatment is non-surgical and non-invasive, you can return to your normal activities and routine right away. You should avoid the sun and not use cosmetics for 24 hours after the procedure.
Are there any side effects with Ultherapy®?
Some patients notice mild redness and a tingling sensation, as well as tenderness. In rare cases, there may be light bruising. These side effects diminish over a few hours after the treatment. There may be slight swelling for a 1-2 days following the procedure.
Is Ultherapy® right for me?
If you have moderate sagging skin and slight wrinkles, but don’t want to go the surgical route, Ultherapy® may be right for you. Patients preparing for a special occasion, such as a wedding or reunion, choose this non-surgical option because the benefits are gradual and appear quite natural.
Anyone with an active skin infection should avoid Ultherapy® until fully recovered. Patients with certain autoimmune conditions or circulatory issues should discuss their circumstances with Dr. Deisher or Dr. Humphrey in advance. Do not seek Ultherapy® in conjunction with any other cosmetic treatments without first consulting with medical professionals.
What does Ultherapy® cost?
The treatments are quoted on an individual basis after consultation with Dr. Deisher or Dr. Humphrey. Because Ultherapy® and other skin rejuvenation procedures are elective, most insurance companies will not extend coverage for costs. To make Ultherapy® an affordable option, Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery offers financing options to qualifying patients. The practice also accepts cash, check, and major credit cards. Please contact our office for more information on the cost of Ultherapy® and other skin rejuvenation treatments.
