What are Facial Fillers?
Facial, or dermal, fillers are a non-surgical alternative to a facelift. Facial filler procedures help the face appear fuller, less wrinkled and give an overall younger appearance. There are different brands and types of facial fillers. Here at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery, we utilize different types depending on your particular needs.

Is a Facial Filler Right for Me?
If you are dealing with minor wrinkles or age lines on your face, one of the facial filler options available at Heartland may be right for you. Whether you are suffering from wrinkles between the eyebrows, laugh lines, crow’s feet or other signs of aging, one of these facial fillers can help. Come in and let one of our doctors at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery in Cape Girardeau work with you to decide if you are a good candidate for one of those injectables.
Which Facial Fillers Do We Offer?
How are Facial Fillers administered at your Cape Girardeau practice?
The facial fillers are administered by the Board Certified plastic surgeons . Each product is slightly different, but most are injected directly into the facial muscles around the eyes, forehead or other areas. Some of the fillers simply plump the face, while others, such as Botox®, block nerve impulses to the muscles too. In either case, the results will begin to show immediately and may improve over the course of the next few days or weeks. Please arrive early to be seated in a private waiting room where ice packs and numbing cream is available for no additional charge.
What Can I Expect After My Facial Filler Procedure?
While results vary from person to person, right away, you will notice some improvement in the treated areas. Your lines will continue to fade for the next month or so. The improvement can last for up to four or five months.
Since facial fillers are a non-surgical option, most patients can return to regular activities almost immediately. It is sometimes possible for patients to come in for a treatment during lunch and be back to work that same day.
Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery consultants will advise you how to care for the area after the procedure and will set up a follow-up appointment before you leave.
The price for these treatments varies from patient to patient. During your consultation appointment at our office in Cape Girardeau, you will receive a detailed breakdown of the cost of the procedure as it applies to you. If you have concerns about paying for your procedure, give us a call and let us discuss the options available to you.

The Importance of Master Injectors
Unlike other providers, master injectors have extensive training in safety, facial anatomy, the risks and benefits of individual products, and creating a customized treatment plan to help patients reach their goal results. At Heartland Plastic Surgery, our master injectors, J. Stewart Humphrey, MD, and David M. Deisher, MD, are board-certified plastic surgeons with over 35 years of combined experience in the Cape Girardeau area.
As Master Injectors, Dr. Humphrey, and Dr. Deisher are each credentialed to deliver excellent results and ensure a patient’s health and safety when providing dermal fillers or Botox. Master injector training builds on their expertise in plastic surgery, offering patients superior results. Dr. Humphrey and Dr. Deisher understand how to avoid the “frozen” look that improper Botox injections can result in or the “overfilled” look of improper dermal filler injections. Instead, patients enjoy excellent, natural-looking results tailored to their unique facial anatomy and aesthetic preferences.
David Deisher, MD and J. Stewart Humphrey, MD offer plastic and reconstructive surgery to patients across Missouri including Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Sikeston, Cape Girardeau County, Bollinger County, Perryville, and Dexter.
