What is JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC?
Over time, your skin loses elasticity, leading to moderate or severe facial wrinkles around the nose and mouth. While serums and creams work on the skin’s surface, both Juvéderm® XC and Juvéderm Vollure™ XC fillers add volume to smooth these lines and folds, giving you subtle, long-lasting results. Juvéderm Vollure™ XC is the latest injectable treatment to be added to the facial filler list at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery Medical Spa.
Juvederm Vollure is now the first and only hyaluronic acid dermal filler FDA-approved to last up to 18 months for the correction of moderate to severe parenthesis lines and wrinkles in people over the age of 21. Juvéderm® fillers are most commonly known for their use of the naturally occurring substance hyaluronic acid (HA), which improves wrinkles by adding volume to the lines around the nose and mouth– for certain patients, Vollure can be utilized for minor lip augmentation. HA helps restore lost moisture in the skin and boost collagen production to help give a smoother, softer, more youthful appearance, slowing down the natural aging process.
Is JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC Right For Me?
Laugh lines, or nasolabial folds, are the folds that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth. As we age, these lines begin to deepen and become more prominent. If you are unhappy with the growing appearance of your nasolabial lines and are looking for subtle, long-lasting results, Juvéderm Vollure™ XC may be an ideal solution. Juvéderm Vollure™ XC softens moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles to create a smoother appearance. If you have a history of multiple severe allergies or severe allergic reactions, or if you are allergic to lidocaine, the gel properties of this product may not be right for you. Please consult with your physician to see if Vollure is right for your age-related volume loss.
How is JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC Administered?
Juvéderm Vollure™ XC is a non-invasive injectable filler that has little to no recovery time. At Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery Medical Spa, all of our facial fillers are administered at our office by our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Humphrey our our board-certified physician assistant, Rebecca Thomasson. The solution comes in a sterile, ready-to-use syringe and is gently injected directly into the target areas with minimal discomfort. Juvéderm Vollure™ XC contains lidocaine, which numbs the areas during the procedure, but most patients prefer to arrive early to take advanced of the complimentary numbing cream and ice packs we offer.

Following the procedure, you will see an immediate improvement in the appearance of lines and wrinkles treated with Juvéderm Vollure™ XC, with results lasting up to 18 months. You may notice some swelling, redness, and tenderness around the injection site. These symptoms are normal and subside shortly after treatment. If possible, it is important to avoid using medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood thinners prior to the procedure, as they may result in increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site.

The Importance of Master Injectors
Unlike other providers, master injectors have extensive training in safety, facial anatomy, the risks and benefits of individual products, and creating a customized treatment plan to help patients reach their goal results. At Heartland Plastic Surgery, our master injector, J. Stewart Humphrey, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon with decades of experience in the Cape Girardeau area.
As a master injector, Dr. Humphrey is credentialed to deliver excellent results and ensure a patient’s health and safety when providing dermal fillers or Botox. Master injector training builds on his expertise in plastic surgery, offering patients superior results. Dr. Humphrey understands how to avoid the “frozen” look that improper Botox injections can result in or the “overfilled” look of improper dermal filler injections. Instead, patients enjoy excellent, natural-looking results tailored to their unique facial anatomy and aesthetic preferences.
