Silicone or Saline Implants?
What is the average cost of breast augmentation at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery? Is there a charge for the consultation?
The cost of your breast augmentation will be based upon the type of implant necessary to create your ideal look, and the extent of surgery necessary to achieve that goal. At Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery, the starting cost for submuscular breast augmentation is $5,350.00
Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery accepts several types of payment. They are cash, credit cards (Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express), money orders, cashier checks, and financing with an outside agency. Cosmetic breast augmentation is not covered by commercial insurance and will need to be paid in full before surgery. Make sure to arrange financing with a financing company of your choice before surgery.
The surgeon does not increase his fee to insert the implant in a submuscular position. We do most breast augmentations by placing the implant in a submuscular position; however, during your initial breast implant consultation at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery, he will recommend which position will work best for your body.
Regarding the incision site, we use three different incision sites: the inframammary fold (breast crease), periareolar (around the areola), and axillary (armpit). The selection of the incision site will be determined after an exam of your breasts and after listening to your concerns regarding scarring. The surgeon will give his recommendation to the patient during the consultation visit at his office in Cape Girardeau.

On average, how many breast augmentations are performed in a year at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery?
Each year can vary, but annually our practice performs over 450 breast surgeries, with over 200 of those being breast augmentation surgeries.
You should schedule the surgery during a time when you can allow yourself to heal. After breast augmentation surgery, you will have a 10-15 pound lifting restriction (that will include lifting children) for at least 10 days following surgery. You also have to make adjustments at your place of work due to swelling and being on pain medication. In some cases, patients with desk jobs can have the procedure done over a long weekend. There are people in other jobs, such as hairdressers or massage therapists, who need to take up to two weeks off.
To reduce bruising and the risk of hematoma, you must stop taking blood thinners and vitamin E at least one week before and after surgery. If you are on prescription blood thinners, you may need to get medical clearance from your family doctor as well as instructions on how to stop these medications. We also require all herbal medication and diet pills (prescription and over-the-counter) stopped at least two weeks before surgery and one week following.
