What is Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian butt lift is a popular cosmetic procedure that helps to create a curvier profile by augmenting the buttocks, naturally, without artificial implants. This technique enhances the profile as well as adds proportion between the upper and lower body, providing volume and curves to the lower body. To find out more about your options, we can discuss your custom Brazilian butt lift during a consultation with Dr. J. Stewart Humphrey.
Brazilian Butt Lift with Fat Transfer?
The Brazilian butt lift technique used at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery uses a combination of liposuction and fat transfer to increase volume in the buttocks area. Areas with excess fat, such as thighs, hips, abdomen, and back, are treated with liposuction. The fat is then placed in a filtration system to wash and separate the extracted fat from other fluids. Once prepared, the harvested fat is placed into syringes and strategically injected into predetermined points in the buttock area.
Candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift
This is a great option to help those who want to improve the shape and size of their buttocks. Some people may be better suited for this type of procedure than others and it is important to have realistic expectations of the results and healing period. Good candidates are in general good health, have adequate excess fat in other areas to use for the fat transfer, and have good skin tone in the hips and buttocks, as this procedure does not treat loose skin. Before getting a Brazilian Butt Lift you should know what to expect from the surgery, healing period, and results.
Recovery from a Brazilian Butt Lift
Your surgeon at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery will provide you with detailed instructions to follow during your recovery period. It is important to refrain from sitting on your buttocks for a few weeks as this can alter your results. Most patients are walking about two days after their surgery. The total recovery time for most Brazilian butt lifts is about eight weeks. During this time, you should avoid strenuous activity and, if you must sit on your butt, use a cushion. At a follow-up appointment with either Dr. Humphrey, he will be able to tell you when you can resume all normal activities.
Brazilian Butt Lift Complications
A Brazilian butt lift with fat transfer does not have the same risky complications as using implants, however, no surgery is risk-free. One complication with performing a Brazilian butt lift is that about 40-50% of the transferred fat cells may not survive the transfer. The good news is that as long as a healthy weight is maintained, the transferred fat cells that have survived will last years to come. The area may be ‘overfilled’ during the procedure to help make up for the percentage that won’t survive.
Benefits of a Fat Transfer
There are many benefits to getting a Brazilian butt lift fat transfer. Fat transfers use natural fat tissue, eliminating the risk of allergic reactions or rejection from the body. Fat transfer procedures offer the additional benefit of taking excess fat from other regions of the body so that you can feel good about that area too. Also, there are fewer risks associated with fat transfer than using implants for the Brazilian butt lift.
Fat Transfer Options
Fat transfer is not just used for adding volume to the buttox area, it can also be used in other areas for augmentation too! Some patients may benefit from the natural look and feel of breast augmentation fat transfers, as well as replacing lost volume to the jawline, cheeks, and lips. Talk to one of the doctors at Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery to see how fat transfer can benefit you.
