What is Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® is the only FDA-cleared, non-invasive cosmetic procedure that lifts the neck, chin, and brow, and improves lines and wrinkles on the upper chest.

Through focused ultrasound technology, energy pulses are delivered deeper in the skin’s layers than any other non-invasive treatment to stimulate collagen growth. The result jump-starts the body’s own process of creating fresh, new collagen, naturally. Your body’s ability to produce collagen naturally decreases with age, leading to a loss of skin firmness and elasticity.  Ultherapy® preserves the youthfulness of the skin, without surgical intervention or concerns over artificial-looking results. You’re still you, only with younger, more youthful skin.

Benefits of Ultherapy®

  • It’s a non-invasive treatment
  • There is no downtime with Ultherapy®
  • Just one treatment is required for most patients
  • The Ultherapy® procedure takes just 60 minutes/area
  • Results are gradual, developing over 2-3 months
  • Results are both visible and invisible, in the deepest layers of skin
  • No special instructions are necessary throughout the recovery

Frequently Asked Questions about Ultherapy®

Is Ultherapy® right for me?

If you are beginning to notice mild to moderate sagging skin, loss of skin laxity, or wrinkles on the chest, Ultherapy® may be right for you. Ultherapy is such an effective treatment because it also treats the deepest layers of the face that are also addressed with cosmetic surgery. Unlike plastic surgery, Ultherapy® will not duplicate the results of a surgical facelift. Candidates are those who desire a more lifted appearance but are not yet good candidates for facelift surgery.  This procedure is ideal for those in their 30s or 40s who are looking for a method to slow down the aging process, a maintenance option, or just wanting to “stay ahead of the game”.

Before & After Photos

During your consultation visit, your surgeon will show you before and after pictures of patients who have undergone a breast augmentation. You will be able to see firsthand the difference the procedure made for these people. Interested in viewing before and after photos before your consultation? Visit our online gallery.

Is Ultherapy® painful?

While comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, most experience mild to moderate discomfort. If and when any discomfort does occur, it happens while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. This sensation is temporary and is a positive sign that the collagen-building process has been initiated.  Ibuprofen can be taken 1 hr before the procedure, but we do not recommend taking it with Percocet.

What can I expect for recovery after Ultherapy®?

Since the procedure stimulates a person’s own collagen production, how long the results last depends on the individual. While tightening and firming results appear over two to three months, they can last up to a year or more. The treatment produces new collagen on the inside, but the individual’s natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside. Future touch-up treatments can help provide more control over the aging process, which varies by individual. Because the treatment is non-surgical and non-invasive, you can return to your normal activities and routine right away.

Are there any side effects of Ultherapy®?

Some patients notice mild redness and a tingling sensation, as well as tenderness. In rare cases, there may be slight bruising. These side effects diminish over a few hours after the treatment. There may be slight swelling for 1-2 days following the procedure.

Is Ultherapy® right for me?

If you have moderate sagging skin and slight wrinkles, but don’t want to go the surgical route, Ultherapy® may be right for you. Patients preparing for a special occasion, such as a wedding or reunion, choose this non-surgical option because the benefits are gradual and appear quite natural.

Anyone with an active skin infection should avoid Ultherapy® until fully recovered. Patients with certain autoimmune conditions or circulatory issues should discuss their circumstances with Dr. Humphrey in advance. Do not seek Ultherapy® in conjunction with any other cosmetic treatments without first consulting with medical professionals.

What does Ultherapy® cost?

Full face and full neck treatments are quoted on an individual basis after a one-on-one consultation with our Ultherapy technician. During the consultation, our technician will assess your skin, address your concerns, and determine if you are a candidate for Ultherapy®. The amount of treatment time and how deep the treatment can go will depend on your current amount of collagen. The technician may ultrasound your areas of concern to be able to accurately quote your treatment. Smaller areas or add-ons such as the brow, perioral (lip), and décolletage can be treated in a range of $400-$700.

To make Ultherapy® an affordable option, Heartland Plastic & Hand Surgery/ Medical Spa offers financing options to qualifying patients. The practice also accepts cash, checks, and major credit cards.
