Why You Should Begin Laser Hair Removal Treatments During Fall

While laser hair removal is a year-round treatment, there’s a reason fall is one of the best times to start. Laser hair removal takes three months on average to see results. With each session, you will see and feel the smooth and silky results and your skin will be ready for summer clothing when the season returns.

Protected From Sun and Heat Exposure

Your doctor/laser technician may want you to stay out of the sun for a few weeks after laser hair removal. If you don’t follow these rules, it can negatively affect treatment. Luckily, we are less exposed to the sun during fall and winter months as our cold weather clothing and outerwear provide another layer of protection against the sun’s rays.

The sun can darken skin, causing irritation, hyperpigmentation, redness, stinging, and sunburns on the areas treated with laser hair removal. Cold weather clothes can hide sensitive skin from the sun, helping your skin recover from the laser’s heat.

Plenty of Preparation Time for Next Summer

Optimal results with laser hair removal typically take six to ten treatment sessions four to six weeks apart. Starting treatment in the fall gives your body plenty of time to recover and adjust.

Hair grows at different rates, so catching the regrowth with the laser will decrease the hair returning by 10% to 20% with each visit. By the time summer comes around, the treated area will be about 80% to 90% hairless. Your skin will be perfect for shorts, skirts, swimwear, and tank tops.

Favors All Skin Pigments

In the past, laser hair removal favored fair-skinned patients with dark hair. Technological advances have changed this rule; however, and now, laser hair removal works on almost all skin types. That said, those with darker skin may need a lower-powered laser to ensure the best results. We always perform a “test spot” before treating a new patient to determine how their skin reacts to the laser and if they are an appropriate candidate for treatment.

If you plan on tanning or using a self-tanner/getting a spray tan, you’ll want to wait until the tan fades before you have your laser hair removal appointment.

Save Money on Shaving Products

With laser hair removal treatments, you can skip buying a new razor or waxing every couple of weeks as the laser will tackle the follicles and ensure you don’t have to deal with unwanted hair ever again.

Once your treatment sessions are finished, you’ll either have no hair to remove or it will be very fine. You can save the money that you’d normally spend on razors, shaving products, plucking, tweezing, and waxing. It’s a win for you and your wallet!
