All About Injectable Fillers

Nobody likes to see the first signs of aging popping up on their face. Maybe you’ve noticed some pesky forehead lines, or perhaps your cheeks are looking a bit sunken. Fillers, Botox, and Kybella area great injectable options for those who wish to improve their appearance without going under the knife. Read on to learn more about Heartland Plastic’s treatment options and what they can do for you.

Fillers

Injectable fillers such as Juvederm and Voluma can help to address common signs of aging, including loss of youthful facial volume, lines, and wrinkles. Both of these fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and binds water under the skin. While Juvederm is often used to treat smile lines and add volume to the lips, Voluma is formulated to restore lost volume in the mid face and cheek area. While Juvederm results last for about one year, results from Voluma can last up to two years in the cheek area.

Botox

Botox is an injectable treatment that is used to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the brows, and at the corners of the eyes. Unlike dermal fillers, Botox is made up of Botulinum toxin type A, which works by temporarily blocking nerve signals that cause facial muscles to contract. Results from Botox can last from 3-6 months before a repeat treatment is needed.

Kybella

Kybella is an injectable treatment that is used to eliminate a double chin. It is made up of synthetic deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When Kybella is injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys fat cells, resulting in a slimmer chin and neck profile. Once these fat cells are destroyed, they cannot return, so results are long-lasting. Usually two or more treatments a month apart are needed.
